After five long years spent sorting out my life, I am happy to be back to blogging regularly.

It has been quite a long break from my website:

  • I tried to pursue a PhD in mathematical statistics, but failed successfully (more on that later).
  • I went back to humanitarian work, where I felt I was making more of a difference.
  • I travelled quite a lot for work and met some truly incredible people along the way.
  • I got engaged and had a traditional wedding.
  • I fought depression, and came back from it.

Data analytics has come a long way since then. Some R enthusiasts have moved on, drawn away by the variety of tools now available, especially as AI has entered the picture. I myself got somewhat caught up in that shift. I now work with various languages — programming languages — depending on the needs. That is why my content will focus on data technologies broadly, and not only R. I am still an R enthusiast at core, though, and will probably still mostly publish about R here.

Without overcommitting, I plan to work more on French translations of my blog posts, discuss and publish more on geospatial analysis, and explore connections between different programming tools — all while aiming for at least two posts per week. It feels nice to be back.
